Design inspired by Venice's iconic Carnival masquerade tradition. Dating back to 1162, Venice's Carnival emerged when the Republic of Venice celebrated a military victory with public festivities in Saint Mark's Square. By the 13th century, the Carnival became famous for its elaborate masks, allowing Venetians of all social classes to mingle anonymously behind intricate disguises.

Historical Context:
The mask-wearing tradition became so integral to Venetian society that mascaraders were legally allowed to wear masks from Saint Stephen's Day (December 26) until Shrove Tuesday. The golden masks and dark cloaks (bauta) were particularly significant, as they completely concealed the wearer's identity and social status - a noble could be mistaken for a commoner, and vice versa. This anonymity created a unique social atmosphere where rank and class temporarily disappeared.
